Christians often say, “I know I am saved.” How do you know you are saved?
First of all, we aren’t “saved” because we said a “sinner’s prayer”. There is no magical prayer in the Bible. Jesus did not say to the woman caught in adultery, “repeat this prayer after me…” No, Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and SIN NO MORE.” (John 8:11 NKJV)
We aren’t “saved” because we “believe” in Jesus with all our heart. The Apostle James said, “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons BELIEVE—and tremble!” (James 2:19 NKJV) Demons believe in Jesus but are not saved!
So how do we know we are “saved”? We OBEY! Jesus said, “Anyone who loves me will “OBEY” my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23 NIV)
Jesus also said, “If you love me, “OBEY” my commandments.” (John 14:15 NLT)
The question shouldn’t be “am I saved” but rather “am I OBEYING”.
