When you are struck with a severe disease or are in great distress, how do you pray?
Do you post a request on Facebook, asking for “prayer warriors” to pray? Do you ask others to lay hands on you and believe for a miracle? Do you fill out a card and post it on the “prayer wall” at church? Do you pray for a few minutes and then go back to your favorite TV show?
When King David’s baby was dying, how did he pray? The Bible says, “David therefore *PLEADED* with God for the child, and David *FASTED* and went in and lay all night on the ground.” (II Samuel 12:16 NKJV)
A man whose son was demon possessed wanted his son healed. How did he pray? The Bible says, “And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him (Jesus), *KNEELING* down to Him and saying, “Lord, have *MERCY* on my son…” (Matthew 17:14-15 NKJV) Note, that this man *BEGGED* Jesus in front of a large crowd.
When Jesus Himself was in great distress, how did He pray? The Bible says, “Then He (Jesus) said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” He went a little farther and *FELL ON HIS FACE*, and *PRAYED*…” (Matthew 26:38-39 NKJV)
Notice they fasted, begged, knelt down, fell to the ground, asked for mercy, humbled themselves and they actually prayed themselves. Shouldn’t we pray in the same manner?
